Twisted Sheets

Twisted sheets lie draped across my body
Dawn breaks
As I fitfully shuffle and turn
Morning light illuminating my skin with a soft glow
Prematurely rousing me from my restless sleep
My eyelids, heavy with exhaustion, flutter open
Next to me lies an empty space
and my memories.

  1. Oh, Karen!! This was such a really amazing poem! You walked us through this without revealing the impact of the final lines, which I love – “Next to me lies an empty space
and my memories.” Brilliant! I shall have to add this line to my Word Bank!!
    Bellissimo, Karen Bellissimo!!
    xoxo
